I almost loathe decorating for the holidays. It’s one of those things that you grow up doing, and if you’re lucky you get to continue the tradition with your own. The most depressing part of decorating is wrangling with endless amounts of tangled strings of glass Christmas lights. First thing you do is check to make sure they turn on when you plug them in, and they usually don’t because of a single light that’s out or they are just cheap. The little bulbs have a tiny filament and are easy to break, not to mention they put out a good amount of heat, and if you leave them on all season they suck up a ton of electricity.
Where to turn next? LEDs. Light emitting diodes are becoming more and more popular for many applications from everything like flashlights to home lighting. The LED Christmas lights last 50,000 hours, which is 25 times longer than any normal string of old-school lights. They’ll put out just as much beautifully colorful light without the heat and energy costs, since they use 90% less electricity to get the same amount of light. They also come with a lifetime warranty, which you probably won’t ever need to exercise since the LEDs are made from almost-indestructible epoxy-plastic! Make the switch this holiday season and get rid of those big messes of old tiny bulbs with your own LED Christmas lights.
