1095The Mullet and the Mohawk….a history

The mohawk is probably most thought of when you think of punk rockers, but it is actually a 2,000 year-old hair style that a corpse was wearing when recovered by an Irish man who had dug him up in a peat bog. He even had hair-gel made from resin and veggie oil. The style was sported by the 101st Airborne division in World War 2, after being worn by numerous native American tribes.
Mullets, however don’t go back so far. David Bowie got those monstrosities off to a great start back in the 1970’s along with his blatant metrosexuality. You can probably name off a handful of nicknames for it by this point. It’s been associated with rednecks and trailer trash for the last 20-years, who have owned or know someone who owns a 1986 Monte Carlo.
