Florida is full of sun-burnt weirdness and hurricane ravaged crazies, but who would have thought that you’d be able to find a disarmed patriot missile in a scrapyard there?
I would probably have crapped a brick if I ran across what I thought to be a missle or a ‘torpedo’ as the person who found it said.
They said that it was harmless, as it was missing its warhead. MacDill spokesman Lt. Omar Villarreal confirmed that the missile did not contain, in his words, ‘the part on top that goes boom.’
According to reports, however, the missile still had its rocket motor and guidance system. Experts suggested that it could have been a model used for training purposes.
Either way, I don’t really think it is a good idea to leave the remains of missiles lying around where anyone can get their hands on them.
