1051One Laptop Per Child is going public

Public availability of the OLPC laptops is great and it even has a great strategy: If you want to buy one, you have to buy a 2nd one that will be provided to the developing world. The idea is that you would be connected with whomever receives the laptop and will be able to communicate with them over the internet.
OLPC is working with Google to make sure that all of the laptops are cooperative and collaborative, while eBay is being partnered with to market the laptops to regular consumers.
I’d buy one of them, for sure.
